Worlds divide, magic slays, and love lies in the second book of Josephine Angelini’s The Worldwalker Trilogy.

"You think I’m a monster, but my choices, as ruthless as they seem, are justified."

Lily is back in her own universe, and she's ready to start a new life with Rowan by her side. True, she almost died in the Pyre that fueled their escape from New Salem, and must hide her magic for the safety of everyone she cares about, but compared to fighting the Woven, the monstrous creatures inhabiting the alternate Salem, life is looking pretty good.

Unfortunately, Lillian, ruthless ruler of the 13 Cities, is not willing to let Lily go that easily. If she can’t persuade Lily to return to her world, she will force her to come back by doing away with the ones she loves.

Picking up right where Trial By Fire left off, Firewalker is another sexy, fast-paced, heartbreaking thrill ride from internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini! (Goodreads)
I absolutely couldn't wait to get started on Firewalker, the second book in the Worldwalker Trilogy by Josephine Angelini. I was so excited to get back into the world that Angelini created, especially after the cliffhanger ending of Trial By Fire. I really wanted to know what was going to happen next for Lily and her crew. Now having read the book, I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!

Firewalker picks up right where Trial by Fire leaves off. Lily is back in her world, and is recovering from the events that took place at the end of Trial by Fire with help of Rowan. But Lillian is as ruthless as ever, and before long Lily and her newly created coven find themselves right back in New Salem, and running for their lives.

Can I tell you how much I love the characters in this book? I find them all to be so well written, and I've come to really love them so much. Even Lillian, who we get more of a back-story on in this book, is well written, and you can't help but sympathize with her for some of the things she had been through in her past. But it's Lily that really steals the show, as any great main character would. I love that she has the ability to do so many different things with her powers, but still cares enough to not completely let the power overtake her. I think she would make a really awesome ruler.

There are so many great secondary characters in the story as well. Some are newer than others, but even they will grow on you as the story goes along. There is one character in the story that I'm a bit worried about, and I wonder what is going to happen with him in the next book.

The storyline for the book follows along the same path as the previous book. The beginning of the book starts off a bit slow, which is expected as Lily heals and learns, but the story really picks up towards the middle. The last few chapters in the book were what really had me on the edge of my seat, and now I can't wait to get my hands on the third book, Traitor's Pyre, which is due out next year. Ah, THAT TITLE has me SO curious.

Overall; I really enjoyed Firewalker! I thought it was a great follow-up to Trial By Fire, and now I'm anxiously awaiting the third book, Traitor's Pyre, to be released in 2016. Angelini has really outdone herself with this series, and I can't wait to read more!

  1. OOh nice! I can't wait to read this one! So hard choosing my reads lately, and that's after I narrowed it down to authors I'll be seeing at 2 separate events in the coming months! But yay! Glad this was good! Been hearing mixed things, but positive reviews make me happy and anxious! Loved the first one too! Great review!

  3. I'll definitely need a refresher on Trial by Fire! I figured this one would have a CRAZY cliffhanger so I think I'll wait til Traitor's Pyre before picking this one up!
