Starcrossed is a wonderful mixture of Greek mythology, and a forbidden love. The book started off a little slow, but soon I became so fascinated that I flew through the pages. It made for a read that I really enjoyed!

All of the characters, including the secondary ones, were well written. I really liked and related to the main character, Helen. She was shy and almost introverted. (So am I.) But she was like this for a reason, to keep people from noticing how different she was. We do see her grow more confident in herself throughout the book, especially after she meets Lucas. Ah Luke… I love Luke! Their relationship was really interesting, especially in the beginning. I wasn’t sure where the author was going to go with it, but I love where it went. I really liked Luke’s family as well. His sister and cousins really made the book interesting. Especially Hector, I liked him. Helen’s best friend, Claire, was one of my most favorite characters in the book. She was a feisty little thing! I really grew to care for all of these characters.

The plot was very creative and I found the mythology to quite interesting. I’ve read quite a few books lately that have dealt with mythology, and I definitely think this is one of the better ones. The ending of the book left me hanging a bit, in a way that I just really want to read the next book in the series. Like, now, please!

Overall, this was a book that I really enjoyable read for me. It will definitely be a welcome addition to my bookshelf, and I’m anxiously looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed reading Wrapped. It was definitely not what I expected, after reading the summary. But I was pleasantly surprised that the book was really good. There was a lot of Egyptology involved, and I found it to be quite fascinating. There is a lot of stuff I didn’t know about Napoleon.

I love the main character, Agnes. Although she wants to do what’s right by her family, be the perfect wife and marry well, she also longs for a life of adventure. She’s smart and funny, and she loves ‘A Lady’, (Jane Austen). Of course, she falls for the underdog, Caedmon, who she knows that she cannot be with. Caedmon is smart and handsome, and is trying to pull himself out of poverty by working in the museum. I really liked him. I kept picturing him as James McAvoy, it was a wonderful picture!

The book was a bit predictable, I had most of it figured out pretty early on. That didn’t stop me from enjoying it though. The storyline was very interesting, and very well written. The book has a lot of history in it, as well as some action and a bit of romance. The ending was pretty much left wide open, so I’m wondering if maybe this will be a series? One can hope.

Why am I waiting on this book?

I recently had the pleasure of reading the e-Arc for this book, and I absolutely loved it. It was quite a touching story that has really stuck with me. It does deal with teen pregnancy, and I thought for sure I would hate it. But I didn't. I loved it. This book will be a welcome addition on my bookshelf!

The Girl in the Steel Corset is, well… WOW! I believe this is only the second Steam-Punk novel that I have read so far, and I really, really enjoyed it! If I hadn’t have been so busy this past week, I totally could have read this book in one sitting. It was that good.

I loved the characters, especially the main character, Finley. She’s torn between her two selves, the good side and the bad side. (Think Jekyll and Hyde.) She’s a bad-ass, but she also has a conscious. I like that she’s such a strong character, even when she’s at odds with herself. She doesn’t need anyone to stick up for her; she can take on just about anyone! I love, love, love Griffin. I love that he’s not your typical male character. He’s nobility, but he doesn’t let it go to his head. He’s calm, laid back, drama free, and knows exactly what he wants. And he pretty much gets what he wants as well. He cares for his friends like they were his family. Love him!

The other characters are just as awesome as well. I love Jack Dandy. I haven’t quite got him figured out yet, but I like him! Sam acts like a typical man, but I like him even still. Emily is kind hearted and a bloody genius. I love Jasper as well. SO many great characters! I would go on and on about them.

The storyline is so very creative, and wonderfully written. I was lost in the language and the world that Kady Cross created. I’m absolutely fascinated now, and I want to read MORE! I really can’t wait to add this book to my shelf, so I can stare at the awesome cover. It’s a series as well, so I can’t wait to read the next book!

I picked up Awaken by Katie Kacvinsky from Netgalley. I didn't really know what to expect, but I picked it up because it had a different feel than most of the books I've been reading lately. I have to say, it was a great read! The plot was great, and really sucked me into the book. It was fasted paced, and I was finished before I knew it.

I liked the main character, Maddie. I liked seeing her 'awaken', to a life she didn't even know about it. You could tell there was a rebel hidden in there, and she was very likable. Justin was another good character. I felt bad for him. He really wants to care about Maddie, but feels that he has to take care of everyone else as well. I didn't like that he played with her emotions so much, but that's a guy for you. ;)

I really enjoyed the book! The ending left me wanting MORE. I'm hoping it was left that way for a reason, and that there will be another book(s) in the series.

I'm also looking forward to starting Demonglass and Where She Went!  My kiddos are officially out of school for Summer Break, so I'm hoping to get a TON of reading done over the next few weeks. Mercy is definitely different than the other ‘Angel’ books I’ve read so far. It wasn’t exactly what I expected at all.

I really liked the main character, Mercy (hosted by Carmen). Mercy is the complete opposite of Carmen. She was quite a feisty little thing. She didn’t care what anyone thought of her, and was pretty much content on doing her own thing. I love how her character grows throughout the book. By the end, I was rooting for her as she took matters into her own hands.

The secondary characters were well written as well. I liked Ryan, and I could feel his pain. He really cared for his missing sister, and never gave up on finding her, even when everyone else had. I liked that there was no insta-love between him and Mercy/Carmen. Most of the other characters, especially Carmen’s ‘friends’, were well written as well. They are the type that you love to hate.

The storyline was creative, and left me wondering. The first half of the book was a bit slow for me, but the second half is full suspense. Once I really got into it, I had the book finished in no time.

Overall, this was a good read. I wasn’t aware that this is going to be a series, and I am glad, because there is quite a cliffhanger ending. I really can’t wait to see where Mercy will take us on her next journey, and I’m kind of hoping we will see some of the characters from the first book, in the second book. (Hint, hint- Ryan!)

Why am I waiting on this book??

Well, I really like the series. I haven't read book #3-4 yet, but I'm hoping to get to them soon. I had actually forgotten that there was going to be a 5th book, and was so excited when the cover was revealed. Harlequin has some really awesome teen books, I just love them!

My Review:

I really enjoyed reading Something Like Fate. It’s the first book I’ve read by Susane Colasanti, and I am looking forward to reading more of her work. It was a really fun, quick read.

The main character, Lani, kind of reminds me of myself. (Only in the fact that I am a huge tree hugger, and I like to bug people about recycling and taking care of the planet.) I guess I connected with her more because of this. I loved Jason from the very beginning. He was so sweet. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow, but sometimes reading about them having SO much in common and so many coincidences, it was a bit much.

The plot, while being one that we’ve read about time and time again, still made for a great read. The book does get more serious towards the end, and definitely shows how some teens and adults can really act in life. I’m glad that was included in the book. Some people just don’t have a clue, and they can be so mean.  It’s really sad when you think about it.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, and am looking forward to starting another of Mrs. Colsanti’s books. Happy Reading!

Once again I am using my "Waiting on Wednesday" post to spotlight a book! I recently had the pleasure of reading Never Eighteen, and I really enjoyed it. I cried through most of it, but it's totally worth the read. It's a wonderful story, and I can't wait to add it to my collection.

My Review:

The Magnolia League was a quick, funny read. I wanted to check it out because it’s a book about the South, and well, I’m from the South! It was definitely interesting, albeit somewhat confusing at times.


The main character, Alex, was a bit much for me to take. She’s very different from most girls. She was very much a hard core hippie. I had a really hard time connecting with the character. My favorite character in the book was Hayes, who was a Junior Magnolia Leaguer. I don’t know what it was about her, but she didn’t really come off as a snob to me, and I really liked the character. Most of the other characters in the story fell flat for me, unfortunately.

The plot was very interesting, and I did enjoy reading about the HooDoo and the southern background. I did not care for all the reference to marijuana, and there was a lot of it. The book also has lots of secrets in it, with a lot that didn’t get answered. I’m hoping we will get more information in the next book.

Overall, this was an Ok read for me. I will be checking out the next book in the series, just to see where the author goes with the series.

Only three books this week! I HAD to buy Divergent, I just couldn't resist anymore. I'm almost caught up on my reads, so I'm hoping to start it soon!

Q. Circle time! Time to share. What character in a book would you most like to be, what character in a book would you most like to date?

Hmmm, that's a tough one.

I would probably say Elizabeth Bennett while dating Mr. Darcy. (Yum!) Because I love the time period and I think Mr. Darcy is, well... yummy. :)

Or maybe I would chose Megan and Ash from the Iron Fey series. Or Jace and Clary from TMI, (think the end of book 3).  Or maybe... Sophie and Archer from Hex Hall.  :)
