Q:  Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

A. Easy!! That would probably be The Evolution of Mara Dyer and The Girl of Nightmares!

Throwback TGIF: Pick a previous question you posted on your blog in the past & revisit your answer. Has it changed since then?

My revisited question is:

Book Blogger Retreat: If you could gather up a handful of book blogger friends to spend a weekend away talking books, where would you go? Tell us about it.

My answer was: The Beach.  That answer definitely has not changed. I'm still dying to get to the beach! LOL!

Q: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

A.  A Beach.
Any beach, with a shade tree and a hammock.

Enough said. :)

A Book Blogger is Born: What made you decide to start your very own book blog?

I started blogging as a way to share my thoughts with some friends on the books I had been reading at the time. The more I blogged, and the more lovely people that I met, the more I fell in love with the book blogging community! It's an awesome place to be. :)

Q: This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother's Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

A.  Unfortunately, I seem to be drawing a blank to this question! I can't really pin down a good mom/child relationship in the YA books I've read lately. The one that really stood out would be between Cas and his mom in Anna Dressed in Blood.  :) She was awesome!

Happy Mom's Day, fellow moms!

Supporting Characters: We tend to gush over those main characters the most, but what about those supporting roles? Who are some of your favorites?

Hmmm, this is a hard question! Some of my favorites would have to be...

Simon from The Mortal Instrument series
Jules and Ambrose from the Revenants series
Jenna from the Hex Hall series
Grimalkin from The Iron Fey series

These are just to name a few. I have TONS more!

Q: What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?

A.Well, since I can't choose just one, I would say the same thing to all of my favorite authors....

Dear Lauren Oliver, Kelley Armstrong, Julie Kagawa, Tahereh Mafi, Michelle Hodkin, Stephanie Perkins, and all my other favorite authors: PLEASE WRITE FASTER! lol!

Literary Vacations: If you could take a trip this summer to any place within a fictional book, where would you go? Tell us about your summer dream vacation!

Not sure what place I would visit in a fictional book, but I can say my dream vacation is at ANY BEACH. lol! I haven't had a vacation in a long time, and I really need to get to the beach. Hopefully this year. :)

Q: Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

A. Yes! I have had quite a few characters disappoint me. Most recently, it was Aspen in The Selection. I really liked him in the beginning of the book, and steadily fell out of love with him by the end of the book.  Check out my review if you want to know why this happened. I don't want to ruin it for anyone!

Reading Blues: We all get them from time to time. What helps you overcome those reading slumps when nothing seems to grab your attention?

Sometimes when I have the reading blues, I go in search of a book that's outside my reading box. Recently I did this with a sci-fi book, which I loved, and it really got me hooked back into reading.

Sometimes, I need to watch a movie. For some reason that always helps me get back into reading as well. I guess it's because I don't want many movies. lol!

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

A.  Hmmm... I'm going to say my two most favorite kick ass herories:

I think I would go with Allie from The Immortal Rules, because she's a vamp and she's kick ass amazing, and Sophie from Hex Hall, because she's part Demon, and can kick as as well!

As for who would win... BEATS ME! But what an awesome fight it would be. :)

Book Blogger Influences: Has there been a particular book blogger who's influenced what you read? Share with us a review/book blog that convinced you to pick up a certain book.

Yes! I am easily swayed by books as it is, but there are a few blogs that always get me excited about reading new books. Here are just a few of them!

Kathy - A Glass of Wine - Kathy is amazing, and I love her reviews. She has turned me on to SO many new books that I normally wouldn't have read.

Lori - Pure Imagination - Lori's blog is one of the very first blogs that I started following!  I love her reviews, and I have added many, many books to my to-read list because of her. I later discovered that we are from the same state, which is even more awesome!

Marla - Starting the Next Chapter - Marla is another fellow blogger from my state! I always love visiting her blog. Her reviews always manage to get me excited. And she is great for recommendations as well!

Carina - Fictional Distraction  -  Carina is one of the first people I started chatting with when I first started my blog. She's always coming up with interesting new posts on her blog, and I'm always grabbing the books that she recommends. :)

Petra - Safari Poet - Petra is another blogger that I chatted with when I first started blogging. She is always posting interesting stuff on her blog to get me excited about new books. And she's super sweet as well!!!

These are just a few. There are TOOOOOOONS more!

Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

A.I am SUPER picky about movie adaptations. Super, duper picky. That's why I'm not always excited about seeing my favorite books being made into movies.

I would say the movie adaptation I am most nervous about would probably be The Mortal Instruments! I love the book series, and would hate for the movie for it to suck.

Musical Stories: If you could read a book about any song, which song would you love to see written down in story form?

Hmmm, that's a hard question! I love music, so I have tons of songs that I would love to see stories about.  I can't really think of any one particular song off the top of my head, but anything that is romantic and sweet would work for me. (I'm sappy like that!)

Q: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

A. Lately, I've been really good at reading only one book at a time. Sometimes I will add in a second one if I'm on a time crunch, or if I'm bored with the first book. It gets confusing if I add more than that. :)

Q: What is the longest book you’ve read? What are your favorite 600+ page reads?

A. To be honest, I have only read a few really, really long books. The two that stuck with me the most were Outlander, and The Woman in White. Both books are over 600 pages, and I hope to re-read them in the future!

Bookish Trends: What are some bookish trends you are noticing in the literature world today? Is there a particular trend you'd like to see more of?

Funny you should ask that! Kathy @AGlassOfWine and I were recently talking about how Fairy Tale Retellings seem to be the new trends lately. That works for me, because I am really enjoying all the retells of my favorite fairy tales. :)

Q: What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?

A. I would love to see Delirium/Pandemonium made into a movie! That would be totally awesome. Not sure who I would pick for the characters though, that would be a tough one!

Book Moments: What has been your favorite moment (scene) in a book that you've read so far in 2012? Please be kind & not include spoilers.

Hmmm... well... I haven't read that many books so far this year, but I'd probably say the Feather Scene in Born Wicked.  Enough said. :)  (Kathy, you know what I'm talking about!)

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most...

A.  Ohhh, I love this question! I'm always so curious about everyone's reading spaces. :)

Well.... I used to read in the den, or wherever I could find a quite spot. Then my hubby decided to get me bookshelves for my birthday, and helped me turn our never used living room into a library! Now I sit in my red recliner, (see photo), and enjoy my library while I'm reading. Oh, and I'm freak for string lights, so I have them all over the room as well. :)

Required Reading: Which book from your school days do you remember reading & enjoying? Is there a book published now that you'd like to see in today's curriculum for kids?

The only two books that I read in school that I really enjoyed and that have stuck with me all this time are The Great Gatsby and To Kill a Mockingbird. Both books totally held me captivated, and I remember reading on ahead of the class because I was so curious as to how they would end.

Having three kids in school, I am sometimes amazed by the books that are on the reading lists. Some of them are downright boring! If they really want to get kids hooked on reading, they should totally include some more attention grabbing books. That's what got me hooked. :)

Q: BeefcakeandBabes Asks: I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What’s the most unique character name you’ve come across?

A.Honestly, I can't really think of any names right off the top of my head, but I'm sure there have been some. :)

Another great answer this week. #fail!

Book Blogger Pride: What do you take pride in when it comes to blogging?

I take pride in EVERYTHING on my blog! From my followers, to my posts and reviews... I take pride in it all. A lot of it is because I've stuck with it for so long, and worked really hard at it. I love, love, love all the people I've got to meet, and talk with on a daily basis. It's awesome. It may not be much to some people, but it's a lot to me. :)

Q: What would your prefer: reading your favorite book over and over again until you got sick of it OR reading 100s of mediocre books? And why?

A. I'm not much of a re-reader... Actually I haven't re-read a book in a long time. It would have to be a really great book for me to re-read it over and over again. I'd say I'd rather read 100's of mediocre books, because you never know when you'll find another favorite, but still go back to my favorites to re-read whenever I wanted. :) (Confused you, yeah?)

Love Stories: What are some of your favorite fictional love stories?

My number one love story will always be Pride and Prejudice. It is such an amazing story, and Jane Austen is brilliant.  If I had to choose a favorite YA love story... the list would be way too long. :)

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kickass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

A. I don't really like I have a particular characteristic that I prefer... I like strong heroines that aren't whiny and can stick up for themselves. I love bad boys that are mysterious.  (NOAH SHAW). But I also love characters that are fun and easy to read.

Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?

To be honest... the first thing I always go for is the cover. I Know, I know I shouldn't do this, but I love covers! Especially covers that are gorgeous. :)
