Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Ami, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancĂ© is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of... lucky. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren was high on my list of most anticipated reads for 2019, and I absolutely couldn’t wait to read this book. I had originally snagged an early review copy of the book, as I had wanted to read it as soon as possible, but then I decided to wait to read it over our vacation at the beach. It sounded like the absolute perfect book to read while sitting on the beach, listening to the waves, with my toes in the sand. This was the absolute best decision ever, as this WAS the perfect beach read, and I will always think of my time at the beach whenever I think of this book!

There are SO many things that I enjoyed about this book, two being the storyline and setting! The storyline is absolutely adorable, and includes both the enemies-to-lovers and fake fiancé/spouse tropes. This was so much fun, and I enjoyed reading all of the situations that the characters got into throughout the book. I also really loved the setting for the book as well, because although I was on a completely different beach than the one in the book, I felt like I was right on the beach described in the book and resort with the characters. It was so great!

Another thing I really loved about the book were the characters. Not only were the two main characters, Olive and Ethan, awesome, but I loved all of the secondary characters as well! Olive has an amazing family, including a twin sister, and stories with large families are some of my most favorites to read. I love that familial bond, and they all definitely made the story more interesting. I also really enjoyed watching the relationship between Olive and Ethan grow over the course of the book. Christina Lauren definitely writes so great relationships, and I love reading them all.

Overall; The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren was the MOST PERFECT beach read, and I’m thrilled that I had the opportunity to read it while at the beach myself. The characters, storyline and setting were all great, and I flew through this book faster than I expected to. I very much enjoyed everything about it, and the book left me wanting to read more by these authors. I will now be excitedly waiting for their next book, Twice in a Blue Moon, to release this October so that I can read it as well!
