I have to admit, the first thing that got my attention about Red Queen was its stunning cover. I definitely could not resist something so gorgeous. Then I started reading the story, and I was completely blown away by the awesomeness in this book. If you don’t already have this book on your to-read list, it’s one that you will definitely want to check out as soon as possible.

There are so many characters in the book that I love; the first being Mare, the main character. Through the whole story I rooted for this girl; her strength and determination were admirable. She did what she had to do to survive, and for her family to survive, and you can’t blame her at all for that.  I loved Mare’s family as well, especially her mom, who was always trying to be supportive. There are SO many characters that I can go on and on about in the story, but I don’t want to spoil anything. But I should mention, that while there are characters in the novel that you will fall in love with, there are even more that you are going to hate. Again, I’m not going to mention any names, as I don’t want to spoil anything, so you should totally read the book and see what you think.

I really loved the world-building for the book and the uniqueness of the storyline as well. It was very well thought out and executed throughout the story. There are a lot of twists and turns, action and suspense throughout the story that will keep you on your toes. There never seemed to be a dull moment as I flew through the pages. Quite a few plot twists throughout the story had me surprised, although I did see one major one coming, and I totally punched my fist in the air for being right on that one. Haha!

Overall; I think I love everything about Red Queen; from the stunning cover, to the unique storyline, to the characters that you can’t help but in love with.  Red Queen is definitely a great start to what should definitely be a pretty amazing series. I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on the next books in the series, as I’m super curious to see what’s going to happen next with Mare and the rest of the story.

To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect when I first started reading My Heart and Other Black Holes. You just never know how a book with such a sensitive subject is going to work out. I’ve read quite a few books lately that deal with suicide, and they were all very unique in their own ways. My Heart and Other Black Holes is definitely unique, and it is also a story that will give you hope.

Aysel and Roman have absolutely nothing in common, other than wanting to end their own lives. They both have a pretty heartbreaking story to tell, although Roman’s story was a bit more distressing in many ways. They both know the dark places of life, the black slug that sucks away any happiness that they could ever hope to experience again. But through this darkness, there is hope, even when it comes from the place you least expect it.

I don’t want you to think that this entire story was sad, because it wasn’t. Aysel was a pretty smart kid, and I kind of love how obsessed she was with physics and classical music. She brought it into her everyday life in every way she possibly could. She was also pretty snarky, which I kind of love in any character. And while Roman felt guilty for ever being happy, we get to see a few of the things that bring a little happiness as well.

The thing that I didn’t expect while reading a book about teen suicide was that there was just so much hope in it. And this hope shines through in the most unexpected ways for these characters; they just have to learn where to look for it.

Overall; My Heart and Other Black Holes was a really touching read about a very touchy subject. I hope that the book will send a great message across to its readers to let them know that there is hope out there, and help as well. Even when you feel the most hopeless, there is always hope.

I’ll Meet You There is the very first book I’ve ever read by Heather Demetrios. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the story, but I had heard nothing but good things, so I was excited to check it out. Before I start fangirling too much with my review, I just want to say how much I really, really loved this book. It was so great.

Skylar has lived all her life in a rundown trailer park in Creek View. The future for most of the girls in her area consists of being barefoot and pregnant, living in the same trailer forever. But that’s not for Skylar. She wants nothing more than to get out of her small hick town and go to college to make something of herself. Unfortunately things don’t always turn out the way we want them to in life, and when her mom loses her job and sinks into a deep depression, Skylar things her plans start to unravel. I really admired Skylar for staying strong throughout everything that she had been through in her young life, and believe me, she had been through a lot. But Skylar was a strong character, always wanting to do what was right for everyone, even when it could cost her what she wants most. She really was such a great character.

Josh, bless his heart, I just wanted to grab him and give him the biggest hug, especially after all the things that he went through in his young life. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like for someone like him, who had seen the things he had seen, especially overseas. Yes, at times he was a total jerk and sometimes I wanted to smack him for the decisions that he made, especially when it came to Skylar. But despite the flaws, you just can’t help but love him anyway.

I really loved watching the relationship grow between these Skylar and Josh. While it was really complicated at times, you could tell that they really cared for each other. And it was a relationship that grew over time, not insta-love, and it was interesting to see how they changed each other.

This book made me smile and giggle like a school girl, but also had me in tears in some parts. Seriously, this book will give you all the feels. It’s one of those books that will really make you stop and think and appreciate the little things that are so often taken for granted. I pretty much read this book in one sitting, which is rare for me because I don’t always have a lot of time to read lately. But I HAD to keep reading this book, and I finished it all in one day. I loved the story and the characters and I just didn’t want to put it down for anything.

Overall; I loved so much about I’ll Meet You There. The characters, the setting, the storyline, it all blends together to form a book that you will not soon forget. I know I won’t. And I’m really looking forward to reading more by Heather Demetrios in the future.

and I really adored the book.
I still need to read *This is What Happy Looks Like* and
*The Geography of You and Me*, but I am hoping to get to them this year.
Maybe I can read them all at the same time!

The first thing that caught my eye when I discovered Courtney Alameda’s Shutter was the book’s cover. How can you resist something that disturbing?? I knew this book was going to be a wild right, and boy was I right! This book definitely did not disappoint.

The main character in the story, Micheline, is one of the last descendants of the Van Helsing lineage. She’s trained since she was a young girl to capture the undead that plague the living. She has a great team with her three comrades who make up her crew; Ryder, a Harley-riding Aussie who Micheline has loved for forever, Jude, who has a rare ability to predict someone’s death, and Oliver, who is the brains of the group.  Working as a team, these four soldiers are a great threat to the undead, not only because of their loyalty to each other, but because of their determination as well.

I have to say, I love every single thing about these four characters. Micheline is quite the badass, pardon my French, but there is really no other way to describe her. She is an excellent leader and her crew respects her. The bond between them is unbreakable. That’s one of the things I loved most about these characters; they are more than comrades. They are close enough to be family, even closer than siblings, and I adored the relationship that they had between the four of them. They were there for each other in a way that a lot of people will never get the chance to experience, and that bond was so special. I loved so much about these four characters, they were pretty awesome. (Although, I think I loved Ryder the most, because he pretty much stole my heart the moment I met him, and because he rides a motorcycle and is Australian. Swoon.)

The storyline for this book was really creative and very fast paced. I’m not a huge reader of horror books, but I love the few that I have read. This book was really scary to read. At one point I was reading before bed, and I had to put the book away because I was afraid I would have nightmares! I loved it! The suspense and tension kept me on the edge of my seat as I flew through the pages. The twist and turns, ghosts and downright horror will keep you hooked. I’m not sure if there is going to be a sequel to this book or not, but if the author does write one, it will definitely be on my to-read list. I feel like there was enough left open at the end of the novel so that there definitely could be a sequel, even though I thought the ending of the book came together very nicely.

Overall; I really, really enjoyed this book, SO much more than I expected to! If you love a good horror story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you should definitely check out Shutter. For this to be Courtney Alameda's first novel, I think she's off to an amazing start! I can’t wait to read more from her in the future!

Tuck Everlasting asks readers “What if you could live forever?” Doomed to, or blessed with, eternal life after drinking from a magic spring, the Tuck family wanders about trying to live as inconspicuously and comfortably as they can. When ten-year-old Winnie Foster stumbles on their secret, the Tucks take her home and explain why living forever at one age is less of a blessing than it might seem. Then complications arise when Winnie is followed by a stranger who wants to market the spring water for a fortune.

Upon the book’s publication in 1975, Natalie was greeted with concern from parents and educators who were stunned to read a book about death written for children. She is an author who challenges her readers and thinks the best questions are the ones without answers.

"What if you could live forever?".
Wow, what a question! It's one that I had to think long and hard about.
Living forever would definitely have it's ups and it's downs.
Think of all the places you could go, the things you could see,
THE BOOKS YOU COULD READ!
The possibilities would be Endless.

But I can't stop thinking about all the downsides that would come with living forever.
Especially having all those around that you love grow old and die, while you live on.
I'm not sure that's something I could handle.

So, after much thought, I still don't know how I would answer this question. :)
