Last Call at Happies! Tonight, 8 P.M. Senior Class Only! Please with the Shhhh….

This is it. Graduation. And Vic Navarro is throwing the most epic party Rancho Soldado has ever seen. She’s going to pull off the most memorable good-bye ever for her best friends, give Happies—the kitschy restaurant that is her desert town’s claim to fame—a proper send-off into bankruptcy, and oh yes, hook up with her delicious crush, Jake Zavala-Kim. She only needs to keep the whole thing a secret so that her archnemesis, Miss Ann Thrope, Rancho Soldado’s nightmare Town Councilwoman and high school Economics teacher, doesn’t get Vic tossed in jail.

With the music thumping, alcohol flowing, bodies mashing, and Thrope nowhere to be seen, Vic’s party is a raging success. That is, until Happies fans start arriving in droves to say good-bye, and storm the deserted theme park behind the restaurant. Suddenly what was a small graduation bash is more like Coachella on steroids with a side of RASmatazz pie. The night is so not going as planned. And maybe that’s the best plan of all. (Goodreads)

My Thoughts...

Kill All Happies is not the first book I've read by Rachel Cohn, but it is the first book I've read that's she's written by herself. The other two books I've read were co-written by David Levithan. (Yes, I'm totally talking about the Dash and Lily series.) I've had a few of Rachel's other books on my TBR as well, so I was curious to finally read one of her books.

I've read quite a bit of summer-themed books lately, and Kill The Happies could also make that list as well. The characters have just graduated from high school, and they want to have one last hurrah at their favorite restaurant/theme park, which is closing down for good. What should be a simple fun for the graduating senior class turns into so much more when fans of the closing park arrive to have a party of their own.

I really enjoyed the setting of the book. I love a good amusement park, and Happies sounded like it was a cool place to visit when it was up and running. It actually sounds like a little amusement park we have where we live, a place I love to visit. I don't know how I would feel if it were to ever close down! Reading about the party itself made me more than a little anxious. The party was pretty wide, and I was actually a little surprised at the amount of drinking and drug-usage throughout the story. I'm no prude, but this seemed a bit... much? Maybe that's me though.

Overall; I'm really not sure how I feel about this book at the moment. There are parts I enjoyed, mostly the amusement park parts, but the rest really didn't quite work out for me. If you're looking for a quick, end-of-school read, this book may be up your alley.

New York Times bestselling authors Rachel Cohn and David Levithan are back with a life-affirming Christmas romance starring Dash and Lily.

Dash and Lily have had a tough year since readers first watched the couple fall in love. Lily’s beloved grandfather suffered a heart attack, and his difficult road to recovery has taken a major toll on her typically sunny disposition.

With only twelve days left until Christmas—Lily’s favorite time of the year—Dash, Lily’s brother Langston, and their closest friends take Manhattan by storm to help Lily recapture the holiday magic of New York City in December.

Told in alternating chapters, The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily reunites two beloved characters and is bound to be a Christmas favorite, season after season. (Goodreads)

Ohhh! I'm so excited to go on another journey with Dash and Lily!
I read Dash & Lily's Book of Dares the Christmas before last (2014),
and really, really enjoyed the story.
I can't wait to meet these characters again in Twelve Days of Dash and Lily!!

“I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”

16-year-old Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on her favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. Dash, in a bad mood during the holidays, happens to be the first guy to pick up the notebook and rise to its challenges.

What follows is a whirlwind romance as Dash and Lily trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations all across New York City. But can their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions, or will their scavenger hunt end in a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?

Co-written by Rachel Cohn (GINGERBREAD) and David Levithan, co-author of WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON with John Green (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS), DASH & LILY'S BOOK OF DARES is a love story that will have readers scouring bookstore shelves, looking and longing for a love (and a red notebook) of their own. (Goodreads)
I can finally mark Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares off my ‘to-read’ list, and onto my ‘I finally read this book’ list! I enjoyed this book so much more than I expected to. It was sweet and some parts had me rolling with laughter.

I loved the main characters in the novel. While Dash and Lily are different in some ways, they are so much alike in others, and this made them a really great couple. I found them both to be extremely relatable in so many ways, and I really felt a connection to them both.

I also really enjoyed the setting and Christmas theme for the book. I’m glad I waited until Christmas time to read the book, because it really made it that much more special. There really aren’t too many Christmas themed young adult books in the world yet, but I’m glad to finally have one to add to my collection.

This is the first book I’ve read by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, but I’m definitely excited to read more by them in the future, both working together, and apart. If their other books are similar, I know I will really enjoy them.

Overall; this book was a really fun Christmas book, but it was also just an all-around sweet, fun read. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I highly recommend that you do so!
