I've had Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs sitting on my bookshelf for an embarrassingly long time, (Seriously, embarrassing!), and I'm seriously kicking myself for not reading it sooner! With the movie release, and Halloween coming up, I knew this would be the perfect time to start the book, and I'm SO glad I did!
I enjoyed reading the story from Jacob, the main character's, point of view. The poor kid had no idea what was happening to him in the beginning story, but he took it all in stride. There were SO many interesting characters in the story, and most of which I absolutely loved. (Except for the bad guys, don't expect me to love them. *wink*) My most favorite character was probably Olive, the girl on the front cover of the book, who can levitate. She seemed like she'd be SO much fun! I totally want to be her.
When I first got this book, I really wanted to read it, because I was curious. But, it looked really creepy, and I don't always do well with the creepy stuff. Then I became even more curious when the movie trailers started coming out, and it didn't look so terribly creepy after all. I ended up putting this book in my Halloween TBR, because, creepy is perfect for Halloween time. Now that I've read the book, it wasn't that creepy at all. Just the perfect amount, actually, and I'm kicking myself for not having read the book sooner. The storyline was very engrossing, and the story pulled me in right away. There were quite a few twists and turns as the story went along, some that definitely kept me guessing as to where the story was going. The ending left me wanting more, and I can't wait to pick up Hollow City soon!
Overall, I really enjoyed Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children so much more than I expected to, and I'm super curious to see the movie now, AND continue the rest of the series as well!!
