Life in the outer realm is a lawless, dirty, hard existence, and Solara Brooks is hungry for it. Just out of the orphanage, she needs a fresh start in a place where nobody cares about the engine grease beneath her fingernails or the felony tattoos across her knuckles. She's so desperate to reach the realm that she's willing to indenture herself to Doran Spaulding, the rich and popular quarterback who made her life miserable all through high school, in exchange for passage aboard the spaceliner Zenith.

When a twist of fate lands them instead on the Banshee, a vessel of dubious repute, Doran learns he's been framed on Earth for conspiracy. As he pursues a set of mysterious coordinates rumored to hold the key to clearing his name, he and Solara must get past their enmity to work together and evade those out for their arrest. Life on the Banshee may be tumultuous, but as Solara and Doran are forced to question everything they once believed about their world—and each other—the ship becomes home, and the eccentric crew family. But what Solara and Doran discover on the mysterious Planet X has the power to not only alter their lives, but the existence of everyone in the universe... (Goodreads)

My Thoughts...

I was really looking forward to reading Starflight by Melissa Landers, as I had read Alienated a while back and really enjoyed it! Also, because I'm really into any books that have to do with science fiction and space at the moment. This book definitely did not disappoint! I really enjoyed reading it.

One thing that really made this book super special for me were the characters. I loved them all, and I loved watching the relationships grow between them as well. It wasn't just one character, it was ALL of them. Solara and Doran did not have the best beginning,  as they pretty much hated each other at first, but watching that relationship grow was really interesting. The story is told from both of their points of view, and I really just loved them both. The secondary characters in the novel are great as well. I loved all of those on the crew of the Banshee.

Both the storyline for the book and the setting were completely captivating. As I mentioned above, I'm really into science fiction books at the moment, especially those that are space related, so this book was right up my alley. The book doesn't end with a cliffhanger ending, but definitely leaves you wanting to get your hands on the next book, and I'm super curious to see what is going to happen next for these characters.

Overall; I really love everything about Starflight. From the wonderful characters to the captivating storyline, I was absolutely hooked. I really can't wait to get my hands on the second book in the series, which is due to release early 2017!! I can't wait! Check this book out, friends, and I hope you like it!

Also, check back tomorrow for a special post from Melissa Landers herself!! You won't want to miss it!!

  2. I am reading this right now and so far I think it is fantastic. Glad to hear that you loved it. I read the author's comments on Goodreads where she compares it to the movie Overboard (as well as the space series Firefly which I'm not familiar with) and I definitely have to agree. I loved Alienated and Invaded too.

  3. OOoh nice! I ordered this one because I was intrigued by it! And I still want to check out Alienated which is in my TBR mountain of doom...somewhere! It's gotten that chaotic! I keep meaning to organize my trunk of books--and sadly that's not even all of them--but haven't found that time yet!

Anyway, glad to hear that this one was awesome! So can't wait to read it! Great review!
