WELCOME TO THE NEAR FUTURE, where good and honest 8/18 citizens can enjoy watching the executions of society’s most infamous convicted felons, streaming live on The Postman app from the suburbanized prison island Alcatraz 2.0.

When eighteen-year-old Dee Guerrera wakes up in a haze, lying on the ground of a dimly lit warehouse, she realizes she’s about to be the next victim of the app. Knowing hardened criminals are getting a taste of their own medicine in this place is one thing, but Dee refuses to roll over and die for a heinous crime she didn’t commit. Can Dee and her newly formed posse, the Death Row Breakfast Club, prove she’s innocent before she ends up wrongfully murdered for the world to see? Or will The Postman’s cast of executioners kill them off one by one? (Goodreads)

When I first discovered #MurderTrending by Gretchen McNeil, I was intrigued! To be honest, I’m kind of a big chicken when it comes to scary stories, and because of that, I was a little weary about starting this book. But, I was more curious than I was weary, so I decided to check it out anyways, and I’m SO glad I did!!

Let me first say that #MurderTrending has a very interesting storyline. Imagine a twisted reality tv show where you can watch the executions of convicted felons live on a streaming app from a prison island called Alcatraz 2.0. That’s not exactly something I would be into in real life, but it did make for an addictive read! I also liked that while this was obviously fiction, it included SO MUCH that’s relatable to the world today, like the reality star president and government that seemed too similar to our current government. I have to say, it would be awesome if the last chapter of the book would happen in real life. *grin* Just sayin’.

#MurderTrending is full of interesting characters as well, including the main character, Dee, who finds herself right in the middle of Alcatraz 2.0 after being wrongly convicted of a crime that she didn’t commit. Dee has a really interesting backstory, one that is actually quite terrifying, and I can’t even imagine being in her shoes in this story. The things this girls has gone through in the past, and then goes through on the island, are pretty insane. But at least she has the help of some other fascinating characters on the island, while trying not to get killed by some terrifying psychos in the process.

Overall; If you like a good thriller story, #MurderTrending may just be right up your alley! This book was definitely an addictive and quick read. I think it’s a standalone book, but the ending was definitely written in a way were the could totally be a sequel, so I'm curious to know if there’s going to be a second book in the future. If so, I will totally check it out! Fans of Gretchen McNeil, or fans of thrillers in general, do add #MurderTrending to your TBR now!

Cassidy Blake's parents are The Inspectres, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one.

When The Inspectres head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland, for their new TV show, Cass—and Jacob—come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. But Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn't sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn't belong in her world. Cassidy's powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead, in order to save herself. (Goodreads)

The members of Don’t Get Mad aren’t just mad anymore . . . they’re afraid. And with Margot in a coma and Bree stuck in juvie, it’s up to Olivia and Kitty to try to catch their deadly tormentor. But just as the girls are about to go on the offensive, Ed the Head reveals a shocking secret that turns all their theories upside down. The killer could be anyone, and this time he—or she—is out for more than just revenge.

The girls desperately try to discover the killer’s identity as their personal lives are falling apart: Donté is pulling away from Kitty and seems to be hiding a secret of his own, Bree is under house arrest, and Olivia’s mother is on an emotional downward spiral. The killer is closing in, the threats are becoming more personal, and when the police refuse to listen, the girls have no choice but to confront their anonymous friend . . . or die trying. (Goodreads)
Get Dirty by Gretchen McNeil was one of my Most Anticipated Reads of 2015! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I read Get Even last year and really enjoyed it, and the cliffhanger ending really had me wondering what was going to happen next. I was definitely not disappointed after reading the book, and at the end, it totally left me wanting even more!

The book picks up right where Get Even leaves off. Margot is in the hospital in a coma, Bree is juvie, and Olivia and Kitty are still trying to figure out who is threatening to ruin DGM before anyone else ends up hurt, or worse.

Can I tell you how much I absolutely love the four main characters in the novel?? Margot, Bree, Olivia and Kitty have only the club in common, but through that they have formed such a strong bond with each other. While the girls had their issues with each other in the first book, they were tight knit this time around, and determined to stop what was happening. And even though there was so much going on in the novel for the girls, McNeil still took the time to give us more information about each one, and I enjoyed getting to know these girls even more.

The thing I really love about this book is that you have NO IDEA who the bad guy is. You can guess and speculate all you want, but you’re going to be wondering right up until the very end. Since there are SO many characters in the book, and half of them are acting suspicious, everyone is a suspect. I had my suspicions, but I hadn’t nailed it down to one particular person. I really love that McNeil kept me guessing right until the very end.

I was curious to see how many books were going to be in the series, but I’m assuming that it’s just going to be a duology. I’m totally fine with that, as Get Dirty wrapped up really nicely to where you can have closure after you close the book, but if McNeil wanted to add another book in the future, she totally could. I actually really hate to see this series end, so if she wanted to keep writing books for it, I’d totally read them.

Also, this series would make a really awesome TV show. Just sayin’!

Overall; Get Dirty was a fantastic follow-up to Get Even. These books are super addictive, and I really enjoyed reading them. Besides these two books, I’ve only read one other book by McNeil, Ten, which I also really enjoyed, and now I’m super excited to read the rest of her books!

you'll know EXACTLY why I need this sequel in my hands.
Get Even was SO good. I can't wait to get back into this story.

The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars in Gretchen McNeil’s witty and suspenseful novel about four disparate girls who join forces to take revenge on high school bullies and create dangerous enemies for themselves in the process.

Bree, Olivia, Kitty, and Margot have nothing in common—at least that’s what they’d like the students and administrators of their elite private school to think. The girls have different goals, different friends, and different lives, but they share one very big secret: They’re all members of Don’t Get Mad, a secret society that anonymously takes revenge on the school’s bullies, mean girls, and tyrannical teachers.

When their latest target ends up dead with a blood-soaked “DGM” card in his hands, the girls realize that they’re not as anonymous as they thought—and that someone now wants revenge on them. Soon the clues are piling up, the police are closing in . . . and everyone has something to lose. (Goodreads)
Get Even is the story of four girls with nothing in common that form a group, ‘DGM’, as a way to get revenge on the bullies and mean girls that terrorize their private school. But even though these girls work together to get revenge for the people that can’t defend themselves. But when one of their targets turns up dead and secrets about themselves start coming out, the group they started begins to slowly unravel.

The four main characters in the story, Olivia, Margot, Bree, and Kitty, have absolutely nothing in common. Despite that, they manage to come together and form the group ‘Don’t Get Mad’ as a way to get revenge on the bullies that pick on the helpless that can’t defend themselves. I love that these girls wanted to get justice for the people that were bullied. I also liked that each of the girls were so different from each other, and even one having been bullied herself. They were a really diverse group of girls, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know them more as the series goes along.

I really, really enjoyed the storyline for the book. I found it to be extremely engaging, and it kept me engrossed throughout the whole book. I loved the mystery and the fact that when I finished the book, I still had no freaking idea who the bad guy was. I’m completely in the dark. Just when I suspected someone, I was proved wrong.  ARGH!  The book ended with a massive cliffhanger. MASSIVE! It’s kind of killing me that I have to wait until next year to get the next book in the series. I need it NOW!

Also - this book would make a really awesome tv show. Just sayin’!

Overall; I really enjoyed this book! It kept me guessing and turning the pages and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, Get Dirty, out May 2015!
