January 12: Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn't
1. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell - I preordered this book as soon as it became available, yet I still have not had a chance to read it. I love Rainbow Rowell, and I MUST make time for this book soon!
2. Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman - I ordered this book right after it was released, because it was all that everyone was talking about! I'm super curious about it, so I'm hoping to start it soon!!
3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - I think I'm the only person in the world that hasn't yet read this book. I have it on my shelf, and it totally calls to me. I must read this soon!!
4. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows - I've been trying to get to this book for a while now, and still haven't had a chance to read it yet. I did recently snag an e-ARC of the sequel, The Mirror King, so I plan to read them both together!!
5. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli - I borrowed this book from the library a few times, but always had to send it back because someone else requested it before I could actually read it. Haha! I think that means I should just order my own copy!!
6. Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon - Everyone and their mama talked about this book last year, and I'm super curious to read it already. I think I will be buying a copy of it as well!!
7. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh - This book sounds SO good, and I want to add it to my collection SO badly! I think I will totally be ordering it soon, because it sounds like a must read!!
8. The Iron Warrior by Julie Kagawa - I am kicking myself because I STILL haven't had a chance to read this book yet!! It was definitely a most anticipated read for me in 2015, I feel like I've been waiting forever for it, so I really need to READ IT ALREADY!!
9. Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner -I really, really love this series, and somehow the release date for the third book slipped right by me. I must read it soon!!
10. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab -This is another book that I've had from the library a few times, but haven't had a chance to read before it's due back. Someone ALWAYS has it on hold!! I need to order my own copy already so I can read it at my own pace!!
I didn't get to read these books in 2015,
but I'm definitely hoping to read them all and MORE in 2016!!
This year is going to be my year. I am FINALLY going to get caught up on my books!!

The first thing that drew me to The Dark Days Club was it's absolutely stunning cover. Seriously, it's gorgeous. Once I stopped drooling over the that and read the summary for the book, I knew this was a book that I would love, and of course, I totally did!!
The main character in the story, Lady Helen, was such an interesting young lady. She was very much headstrong and confident, and even a bit snarky at times. She tolerated all of the things that people said about her mother, who was branded a traitor after her death. She also tolerated living in her uncle's house, a man who made my blood boil more than a few times throughout the story, where she had to stay until she was either married or turned 25. And when she finds out that she has demon-killing abilities, she keeps her head while she sorts through what exactly was going on. Lady Helen had the makings of an excellent heroine, and I can't wait to see what she does in the rest of the series.
There are also a lot of really interesting secondary characters in the story as well! Some you will absolutely love the moment you meet them, and some that you will be so suspicious of, you'll wonder what exactly they are up to throughout the whole story. I loved it!
One of the things I also really loved about the book was the setting. Set during 1812 in London, it felt very much like reading a Jane Austen novel, who I absolutely adore. The author did a really, really great job with her descriptions of everything from the clothing, to the mannerisms of the characters, and of the houses and carriages and EVERYTHING. I could picture it all perfectly in my mind! Because of that, I flew through the pages of this book in just a days' time, and at 496 pages, that was no easy feat!
While I loved so much about the time period in the book, I always feel so frustrated at how women were treated during the time. Women weren't allowed to do hardly anything , which makes being a heroine super hard. How are you supposed to kick demon butt when you can't even leave your house unchaperoned?? It definitely kept things interesting, and kept me guessing on how Helen was going to accomplish all the tasks that she needed to do.
Overall; I thought The Dark Days Club was such a good read! I loved the characters and the time period, and the storyline was completely addictive as well. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the next two books in the series when they are released!!

I Know What You Did Last Summer and How to Get Away with Murder?? COUNT ME IN!! How to Get Away with Murder is one of my most favorite shows on tv at the moment, so I'll read just about anything that's compared to it. :)
Seriously though, this story sounds like it will be SO good. I can't wait to check it out!

Passenger is the very first book I've had the pleasure of reading by Alexandra Bracken! I've had her Darkest Minds series on my to-be-read list for years, but for some insane reason, have not read them yet. After reading Passenger, I totally can't wait to! This story was super unique and it completely captivated me as I turned the pages!
The story is told from two different point of views; through Etta, whose life is changed one devastating night after she's forcibly pushed into a strange new world by a girl she doesn't know, and Nicholas, who has known about time travel almost his whole life, and wishes to have nothing more to do with it, or with the family that now controls it. These two characters made a really great team, and worked so well together, even though they each had their own secrets that they kept from each other. I was really rooting for these two throughout the whole story.
I love that as go through the pages, you can totally tell that Etta is a girl from the present, and Nicholas is a boy from the past. It was interesting seeing how they interacted with each other and reacted to each time period they jump into, as well as how they were treated during the specific time as well. With Nicholas being a dark skinned boy, and Etta being just a girl, things were definitely not always easy for the two. Nicholas was pretty awesome as a pirate too, and he was a legal one at that, and Etta proved to be a lot stronger than I first thought, and I really appreciated that.
The storyline for the book was very interesting. I've only read a handful of time travel books, and I always find them to be either very well written, or decidedly not, and this book was very well written. I loved the settings and people from each time period Etta and Nicholas jumped through. Bracken did a great job with descriptions; I could picture everything perfectly in my mind! And that ending... I'm not a huge fan of cliff-hanger endings, mostly because they leave me pining for the next book so desperately and I'm super impatient sometimes, but this ending, while a cliff-hanger, was not extremely dramatic, and I can live with that. (I'll still be impatiently waiting to get my hands on the next book though!)
Also, this book was massive, coming in at 496 pages, and I STILL managed to read the bulk of it in one day. It was very much engrossing!
Overall; I really enjoyed Passenger so much more than I expected to! I loved the characters and the storyline was unique and refreshing. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book, Wayferer, which should be released in 2017! I'm curious to see how this story is going to end. Check the book out for yourself, and I hope you love it!
1. Read more. - My goal is usually 100 books, but I've read
110-115 the past two years, so I really want to push myself to read a
little more and try for 125 books in 2016.
2. Listen to more Audiobooks. - I listened to a lot more audiobooks in 2015 than I usually do, and they are seriously the best thing ever. I plan to listen to a lot more in 2016!
3. Read more books I BUY. - I'm usually so engrossed in review books, that I never have time to read books I buy for myself. This is something I've really got to work on this year.
4. Read more New Adult / Adult Fiction. - I really enjoyed all the New Adult and Adult Fiction books I read in 2015, and I'm planning to read a lot more this year!
5.Start over the Harry Potter series and FINISH it this time!Every year I say I'm going to finish this series, and I've yet to do so. I'm totally going to do it this year, I hope! I also plan to watch all the movies as well.
6. Be more active on Social Media. - I've done a pretty decent job lately at keeping my Twitter and Instagram updated, now I just need to work on my other accounts, including my personal ones!
7. Catch up on Netgalley Books. - I am really behind on some Netgalley books I've requested over the years and haven't had a chance to get to, so I really want to work on getting those reviewed this year.
8. Get ahead of schedule with review books. - I always feel like I'm behind on review books, I always seem to be reading them right around the release date. I'm hoping to actually get ahead this year!
9. Watch more movies. The past two years I've made a goal to watch 100 movies, which is a lot for me because I'm not really a movie person, and I've yet to actually reach this goal. I guess I'd just rather be reading! Haha!
10. Binge watch some TV Shows. - I've always wanted to be one of those people who binge watch TV shows. Unfortunately, I have the attention span of a gnat, and I spend most of my free time reading, so this is something I've really never had time for. BUT, there are SO many shows that I want to watch, so I'm going to try to do that this year!
That's just a few of my resolutions for 2016!! I hope I can stick with them this year. :)

When I first discovered Tell Me Three Things, I knew this was a book I would 'have' to read. I LOVE contemporary novels, they are my favorite genre, and I never pass up an opportunity to read a new one. I'm SO glad I read this book. I really enjoyed everything about it, from the characters to the storyline and more!
And keeping with the theme of the novel, let me 'tell YOU three things' I loved about this book!
1) The characters. There were SO many great characters in this novel. The main character, Jessie, despite having been through so much in her young life, proves to be a very strong young lady. I really related with her, and empathized with her for all she had been through. There were also a lot of secondary characters in the novel that I enjoyed; Jessie's best friend from Chicago, Scarlet, who she still talks to whenever she can, and also her new friends, Dri and Agnes, who proved to be really awesome as well. There are guys in the story too, one in particular who I feel in love with, but will not tell you who he is. Read the story so you can find out for yourself! And of course, there's 'SN', her secret virtual spirit guide. Love!
2.) The Storyline. As I mentioned above, I adore contemporary novels. I seriously can't get enough of them. The storyline for this book was so sweet and very entertaining , and the mystery of who Jessie's secret 'SN' was kept me turning the pages. The story also had quite a few touching moments as well, and even a few moments that are completely heartbreaking. Seriously, this book will give you ALL the feels.
3) The ending. There's nothing I love more than reading a book with a really great ending. The end of this book left me with a huge smile on my face, and that giddy feeling in my stomach. I LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS; it really makes books so much more memorable for me. Great ending, I loved it.
