Follow Friday & TGIF * 1/27

Follow Friday! #44

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet new blogger friends!

Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

A. HORROR!
Because I'm a big chicken. Enough said. :)

TGIF at GReads #12

TGIF at GReads is a Friday Feature hosted by Ginger at GReadsBooks.com!

Buy or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?

I get a huge chunk of my books from the library. Having three kids, I'm not able to book shop as much as I'd like to. So usually I get books from the library, and if I really, really love it, I will buy it. Unless it's something that I know I will love anyways.

I also get a pretty decent amount of books from Netgalley and Publishers. I am always super thankful for these!

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Please leave a comment with your link so I can follow you back!

  17. I wish there was a great library in my hometown, because buying that many books.. It's just not cool. And Horror.. I don't read any, because the suspense only works for me in movies. Don't know why. XD

  18. I don't enjoy horror either, also due to the chicken in me. I have found that I like books that are slightly scary, give you a thrill but aren't gross and can't sleep with the lights off for a month scary. I read one a few years ago about what happens to this family after the electricity in the world just...stops. It was scary but in an "OMG What would I do!?!?!?" sort of way. It was Into the Forest by Jean Hegland. I highly recommend it!

  19. Dropping by from Friday Follow...I avoid Horror also. I like to sleep:)

  20. I haven't read horror in years. I did really like 2 books by Tarmar Thorne, because they were paranormal horrorish. And yeah, they were pretty scary to read at night!

  21. I don't mind horror too much honestly. I don't get scared too easily and I always appreciate a book if its written well enough to get my heart pumping. A lot of people shy away from it though.

  22. Horror is kind of a toss-up for me. I've read some that feel more like suspense than horror, though The Monstrumologist does involve the supernatural (including anthropophagi *shudders*). I think it's because of the mystery aspect that kept me interested, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book Wendigo soon. Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  26. I like horror, but I'll skim. It's about as close to peeking through my fingers as I can get with a book.

  31. Me too Christy! The only "horror" book I've read is Stephen King's The Shining and that was for a school paper so I didn't have much choice. I scare so easily, so that's one genre that is not safe for me:)

  32. I like to read some horror books sometimes it"s nice, maybe not at night lol.
