From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Shopaholic series comes a terrific blend of comedy, romance, and psychological recovery in a contemporary YA novel sure to inspire and entertain.

An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey’s daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother’s gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. Audrey can talk through her fears with Linus in a way she’s never been able to do with anyone before. As their friendship deepens and her recovery gains momentum, a sweet romantic connection develops, one that helps not just Audrey but also her entire family. (Goodreads)
I can’t even begin to say how excited I was to get my hands on Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella. I read the first book in her Shopaholic series a few years ago, and really enjoyed the book. So I was super curious to see what she could do with a young adult novel, and I was definitely not disappointed!!

After a bullying incident at her school, fourteen year old Audrey now suffers from major social anxiety issues. With the help of her family and doctor, she’s been working her way towards progress, although it’s not gone exactly as she expected. Until her brother’s best friend, Linus, bursts into her world, and connects with Audrey in a way she’s never connected with anyone else before.

Audrey is probably the most relatable character that I’ve ever read in a book before. I have my own issues with social anxiety, so I could totally relate to how Audrey felt during all the situations that she went through. I have to admit that she handles things a lot better than I do at times! Her progress was pretty amazing, and I find myself wishing it was just that easy for everyone. But I was totally rooting for her for each goal that she met. I really, really liked Audrey as a character. I think she may be one of my favorites!

The secondary characters in the book were all great as well. While the mom was a bit crazy in her own way, you can’t help but love her. The dad and Audrey’s brothers were pretty awesome too, and all for different reasons. While the family had their issues, they were still such a close, fun family, and I love these types of families so much. Linus was pretty great as well; I loved his patience with Audrey and the way he helped her through things.

I also love that while the storyline for the book deals with some really serious issues, the book is still a fun and light-hearted read. It will also make you roll with laughter; I know I laughed more than a few times as I turned the pages. It was also a quick read as well; at just under 300 pages, I had flew the book in no time, and was wishing for more when it was over.

Overall; I was super curious when I first discovered this book to see what Kinsella would do with a YA novel, and now I have my answer. Finding Audrey was such a fun, touching, and relatable read for me. I hope Kinsella decides to do more in the Young Adult genre, as I would love to read more from her!!
