Charlie Grant’s older sister is getting married this weekend at their family home, and Charlie can’t wait—for the first time in years, all four of her older siblings will be under one roof. Charlie is desperate for one last perfect weekend, before the house is sold and everything changes. The house will be filled with jokes and games and laughs again. Making decisions about things like what college to attend and reuniting with longstanding crush Jesse Foster—all that can wait. She wants to focus on making the weekend perfect.
The only problem? The weekend is shaping up to be an absolute disaster.
There’s the unexpected dog with a penchant for howling, house alarm that won’t stop going off, and a papergirl with a grudge.
There are the relatives who aren’t speaking, the (awful) girl her favorite brother brought home unannounced, and a missing tuxedo.
Not to mention the neighbor who seems to be bent on sabotage and a storm that is bent on drenching everything. The justice of the peace is missing. The band will only play covers. The guests are all crazy. And the wedding planner’s nephew is unexpectedly, distractingly…cute.
Over the course of three ridiculously chaotic days, Charlie will learn more than she ever expected about the family she thought she knew by heart. And she’ll realize that sometimes, trying to keep everything like it was in the past means missing out on the future. (Goodreads)
Save the Date by Morgan Matson was definitely on my list of most anticipated reads for this year, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book! I can't resist a book by Morgan, and since this was wedding themed, I definitely wanted to check it out ASAP. It was such a great read!
I'm really all about summer and wedding themed books at the moment, mostly because that's the season we are currently in, and I'm trying to read ALL the books with this theme that I can. (I seriously can't resist these books, and this is the BEST time of year to read them.) So, the wedding theme of the book definitely drew me in.
This book had a lot of great characters in it, including the main character, Charlie. Charlie was awesome, and I was able to relate to her in SO many ways. (I LOVE it when that happens!) She has a pretty awesome family as well, so many brothers and a great sister and parents. The bond between them was awesome, and I would love to be a part of their family! There are some pretty great secondary characters in the story as well, including Bill, who made me smile more than a few times throughout the story. *wink*
The storyline for this book was super cute. As I mentioned above, I love a good wedding book, and that's definitely what this is. It seriously felt like EVERYTHING was going to go wrong for this wedding, but Charlie was the best and always managed to save the day, in some form or another. This book was definitely a cute, fluffy read, and that was perfect for me. I flew through the pages, and definitely didn't want the story to end!
Overall; Morgan Matson has once again made me fall in love with one of her stories and Save the Date will most definitely be a book that will read over and over again! The book has great characters, and a fun storyline, and I was absolutely hooked. I have a few of Morgan's older books that I still need to read and having read this book I am even more excited to get started on them ASAP! If you're a fan of contemporary stories, or just of Morgan Matson, you will definitely want to check out this book!
I'm happy to see this one getting good reviews because I really want to read it. I mean weddings! Of course I want to read it!
